Daddy lion is all done, now it’s time to start on the baby cubs.

I sold this beauty today, and it’s an odd thing. While I’m always grateful for each and every person that commissions a guitar, or just buys one that’s for sale, it always leaves me a little sad after. As an artist, I leave a piece of myself in each creation, and once they’re gone, all that I’m left with is these photographs. This particular guitar hit me hard, as the person just walked up to me and bought it out of the blue, and I feel like I didn’t get to say goodbye. I know that’s silly, but it’s the truth. I hope all of my little guitar children go off into the world and bring each client joy.
I just posted a new video on YouTube! This episode covers the final assembly of the 2020 30A Songwriter Festival Annual Guitar. It's about 20 minutes of the process that I go through after the lacquer is applied, all the way through the first string-up. After that, I sit down in the studio with the guitar, and show you how she sounds! Please check it out and share! Video link in my bio.
In honor of the College Nation Championship game tonight, I dug up this guitar I made a few years ago that just so happens to have both teams mascots on it! #nostradomus
That’s it, she’s finally done. All said this inlay is made up of 224 individually hand cut pieces of wood. It’s 1.6mm thick and will end up on the fretboard of a really special 12 string acoustic I’m building for a client. Now I just have to inlay it and install the frets!
The progress from 3 days of work on this inlay.
